Queen of Egyptian Dance has been mezmerizing audiences with her great skill and authenticity of traditional Egyptian dance known in the art world as Raks al Shaqi (Dance of the East). She has been hailed as "one of the most beautiful and top dancers in the world" and as a cultural artist who " delivers oriental dance at it's best".  It's no wonder why this dark haired beauty has a resume that reads like an artists dream. Ms. Taj originates from Long Beach , New York. She began training the heritage dance of her Egyptian mother since she is 9 years old. Her mother was born in Azarita, Egypt. A village where Greek /Egyptians reside. Ms. Taj was pulled out of school for 6 months at ten years old and spent quality time with her relatives in Alexandria, Egypt . The music and culture made a profound impression on the little rising star . Shortly after graduating high school, Ms. Taj moved to Europe and took classes with master teachers Mahmoud Reda, Mohammed Gadawwi and Raqia Hassan. She embraced egyptian style with all her love.

During this time Ms. Taj was invited to dance at the first Belly dance festival in Stockholm Sweden, better known as the Nile Group. Rumor has it that Finnland had super star Dina from Egypt at their festival and Sweden needed another International Star for the Gala show. Layla Taj filled her shoes. Ms. Taj then proceeded onto the Middle East and landed contracts in prestigious american hotels and performs in Cairo, Sharm el Sheikh and The United Arab Emirates. She also performs in The United Nations in New York for political dignitaries. Her performances in America and the Middle East have been for  President Bill Clinton, President Mubarak of Egypt, Henry Kissinger, King of Malaysia, King Abdullah of Jordan, Prince Moulay Rashid of Morocco and Prince Bandar bin Sultan of Saudi Arabia.. just to name a few. Ms. Taj is simply oriental dance royalty.
